DIY Blended Pattern Earrings with UV Resin & PVA Glue
If you love getting crafty with jewelry, this tutorial is for you! Today, we’re making beautiful, blended-pattern earrings using UV resin and PVA glue. With a little patience and creativity, you’ll create a pair of earrings that are truly one-of-a-kind. But before we jump into the fun part, let’s go over a few important tips to make sure everything turns out just right.
Workspace & Material Preparation
- Materials: UV resin jewelry making kit, alcohol inks, white UV resin, PVA glue
- Tools: Measuring cup, stirring stick or electric mixer, torch, 75% alcohol (for cleaning)
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a respirator for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 73–78°F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Precautions
Precautions 1: Alcohol inks
Less is more when it comes to colorants. Try to stick to no more than three colors. Any more, and the colors can mix too much and end up looking muddy instead of magical.
Precautions 2: PVA glue
The consistency of your PVA glue matters a lot.
- If it’s too thin, the pattern may not hold.
- If it sits too long, it gets too thick, forming a film on top, which makes it tricky to scratch patterns into it.
Precautions 3: Operation Technique
- Be gentle! Don’t press too hard when placing the mold. Too much pressure = blurry patterns.
- Keep things steady and vertical when pressing to avoid unwanted smudges from glue movement.
- Want to make the most of your materials? Add a few more drops of colorant after your first try and press again for a new look without wasting a batch.
Step-by-step operation process
According to the above-mentioned precautions, we will complete the production process once~

Step 1
Drop clear UV resin into the mold and cure it with a UV lamp for 2–4 minutes. This is your base layer.

Step 2
Cut a plastic measuring cup at the 30oz mark (about 0.787 inches high), then pour in white PVA glue to the halfway point (around 0.394 inches).

Step 3
Add 2–3 drops of your favorite alcohol inks. Let it sit for 10–20 minutes until the glue thickens just a bit.

Step 4
Using a mixing stick, draw an "S" shape across the glue -first side to side, then top to bottom. Or, go wild with your own creative pattern!

Step 5
Use something that won’t leave marks—a small ball of clean putty or similar tacky material works great to stick the mold onto a stick or tool for easier handling.
Gently press your mold onto the pattern. Hold it vertically for 3 seconds, then lift it straight up. Flip the mold upside down and let it sit flat for an hour while the glue dries.

Step 6
Want your pattern to pop? Add a layer of white UV resin on the back and cure under a UV lamp for 2–4 minutes.

Step 7
Use your jewelry-making kit to attach earring hardware. Done! You've made a beautiful pair of handmade earrings.
Blending patterns with UV resin and PVA glue might take a little practice, but the results are totally worth it. With each try, you'll refine your technique and discover new color combos that really shine. Whether you're crafting for fun, gifting handmade treasures, or building a small business, these artistic earrings are sure to be a hit! Happy crafting!
In colder weather, UV resin tends to thicken and trap bubbles more easily. Before using, warm the bottle in water (about 50°C) for a few minutes to bring it back to its ideal consistency.
