DIY UV Resin Dewdrop Necklace
Inspired by the beauty of morning dew, this delicate necklace captures the look of shimmering drops of water strung along a clear line. Made with UV resin and fishing line, each droplet reflects subtle shifts of color as the light changes, just like real dewdrops sparkling in the sun. When worn, it feels as though nature’s jewels are gently resting around your neck.
Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Crafting time: about 1 to 2 hours
Tools and Materials Preparation
- Materials: Low viscosity UV resin, transparent silicone mat, 6mm fishing line, tape, lobster clasp
- Tools: Round UV lamp, dental floss
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a respirator for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 73–78°F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Sketch your necklace design on paper, then place a transparent silicone pad on top. This way, your sketch stays visible while you work, serving as a guide for shaping the fishing line.

Step 2
Arrange the fishing line according to your sketch and tape it down to keep it in place.

Step 3
Apply a small drop of UV resin at four points, left, right, top, and bottom, where the necklace needs to be anchored. Quickly cure each drop with a UV lamp to lock the shape and prevent movement.

Step 4
Continue applying resin along the fishing line. After every 4–5 drops, cure with the UV lamp to hold the round shape.
Tip: Don’t let resin droplets sit too long before curing. Otherwise, they’ll flatten out instead of keeping their three-dimensional, domed look.

Step 5
For a fluid, draping effect, use dental floss as a temporary guide to outline curves. Let the resin cure around it, then remove.

Step 6
Once the overall necklace is cured, carefully peel it from the silicone mat and flip it over.

Step 7
Apply a thin coat of resin to the back, shaping it into rounded dewdrops, then cure again for 2 minutes. Finish by attaching lobster clasps to both ends. Your transparent dewdrop necklace is complete!

Pro Tip
Lay the fishing line completely flat on the silicone pad before applying resin. If the line is raised or uneven, the dewdrops may tilt and lose their plump, three-dimensional effect.
