Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Crafting time: 30 minutes
Materials Preparation
- Materials: fast cure resin, cat paw mold, key, purple glitter, purple pearlescent powder, hot melt glue, UV resin
- Tools: Measuring cup, mixing stick, utility knife, hot glue gun, UV lamp
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a vapor mask for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 68~77 °F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window, or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Measure the width of your key. Using a utility knife, carefully cut a small slit in the mold, just wide enough to slide the key through.
Tip: Make the opening in the center of the mold. This ensures the key will be suspended in the middle once secured, allowing it to be fully encased in resin later.

Step 2
Fill the paw pad area of the mold with clear UV resin. Cure under a UV lamp for 3 minutes on each side, or until fully hardened.

Step 3
Insert the key through the slit in the mold. Use hot glue to secure the key in place on the outside of the mold, making sure it stays centered and stable.

Step 4
Measure the fast-cure resin at a 1:1 ratio by volume. Mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes, until the resin becomes clear and free of streaks.
Tip: If the temperature is below 72°F (22°C), the resin may become thick. To improve flow and mixing, place the bottles in a warm water bath for a few minutes before use.

Step 5
Add purple pearlescent powder, followed by purple glitter. Stir well until the color and shimmer are evenly distributed.

Step 6
Carefully pour the mixed resin into the mold, fully covering the key. Allow it to cure for approximately 8 hours, or until completely hardened.

Step 7
Once fully cured, gently remove the piece from the mold. Your cat paw key cover is ready to use! Enjoy your handmade, paw-sitively adorable key accessory!

Pro Tip
If the edges feel sharp or there is any excess resin, carefully trim the rough areas with a utility knife. Then smooth the surface with 2000-grit sandpaper for a clean, polished finish.
