Guide to UV ResinGuide to UV Resin

:laughing:UV resin is a material in resin crafts that "cures upon exposure to light". It is more beginner-friendly than epoxy resin, with extremely simple operations: just pour it out, shape it, add accessories, and cure it under a UV lamp. You can finish a piece in just over ten minutes, which is ideal for craft enthusiasts who want to see results quickly.

Not sure how to choose from different types of UV resin? We offer a variety of options to meet diverse creative needs. Here is an introduction for you:

  • Advantages and limitations of UV resin
  • Step-by-step operation process
  • Suitable project types
  • Common usage issues

Regular UV Resin

Advantages

UV Resin features low odor, minimal bubbles, low shrinkage rate, and high hardness. Once cured, it appears crystal clear and resists yellowing.

Suitable Finished Products

It is ideal for use with precision molds and most jewelry-making projects, such as small resin accessories like necklaces, earrings, and keychains.

Limitations

This UV Resin is of a thin consistency with high fluidity, making it unsuitable for creating 3D or dome effects.uvresinuvresin

Adhesive UV Resin

Advantages

It boasts low viscosity (referring to fluidity), strong adhesiveness, and after curing, it is odorless with high transparency. It can cure in just 5–10 seconds, facilitating quick assembly of finished products, which results in a sturdy structure.

Suitable Finished Products

It is used for the rapid bonding of various materials, such as self-adhesion and mutual adhesion between resin and resin, plastic, glass, metal, and acrylic materials.

Limitations

It is only suitable for bonding surfaces and non-load-bearing parts, and it is best to ensure that at least one side is a transparent material.img_v3_02q8_7ad32235-9e22-4b02-9352-5ac0a286f7dgimg_v3_02q8_7ad32235-9e22-4b02-9352-5ac0a286f7dgThick UV Resin

Advantages

Thick UV resin has high viscosity and slow fluidity, making it suitable for creating spherical curved surfaces, water droplet effects, and more.

Suitable Finished Products

It is ideal for 3D painting, dome-making, and exquisite micro-landscape DIY projects, such as waves and water splashes.

Limitations

Its curing time is approximately 1 minute longer than that of thin UV adhesive.uvresinuvresinSoft UV Resin

Advantages

Different from common hard UV resins, the soft UV resin has a hardness of 15D. The crafts made from it are soft and bendable, with a certain elasticity, offering high playability.

Suitable Finished Products

It can be used to make silicone phone cases, fabrics, handicrafts, pens, soft wristbands, and more.

Limitations

Its curing time is approximately 1 minute longer than that of ordinary thin UV adhesive.img_v3_02q8_f0b32739-31a9-4908-af4e-8054e667fdcgimg_v3_02q8_f0b32739-31a9-4908-af4e-8054e667fdcgColored UV Resin

Advantages

This colored UV resin is ready to use right out of the container, eliminating the need for mixing with powders or colorants. It produces fewer bubbles, offers great value for money, and features vivid, bright colors.

Suitable Finished Products

It is ideal for making colored earrings, rings, tags, gemstones, and more.

Limitations

It is not suitable for applying in overly thick layers.uvresinuvresinJewelry Making Kit

:zoomer2:Step - by - Step Operation Procedure

:tool:1.Workspace & Material Preparation

Resin metal frame molds, necklace cords, UV adhesive, UV lamp, resin tape, silicone sticks, colorants or powders, dried flowers, and other fillers.

:gauge:2. Environment Setup

  1. Avoid direct exposure to strong light (before curing).
  2. Optimal operating temperature: 60–85°F (15–29°C).
  3. Ensure the surface of the workpiece is clean and the operating environment is dust-free.
  4. Work in a well-ventilated area—for example, by turning on exhaust fans, opening windows, or using a fume hood. Avoid confined small spaces (such as enclosed workshops).img_v3_02q8_13820730-8846-4790-a87c-03f1f08cc9agimg_v3_02q8_13820730-8846-4790-a87c-03f1f08cc9ag
StepsProduction Process
FixingStick the resin tape (with the adhesive side facing up) onto a flat surface. Press the metal frame firmly onto the tape to seal the bottom.
Base MakingDrip a few drops of UV resin into the frame. Use a silicone stick to guide the resin toward the edges, ensuring it completely covers the bottom.
CuringPlace it under a UV lamp and irradiate for 2 minutes.
DecorationArrange dried ferns or floral elements on the cured resin layer. Cover them with another layer of UV resin to fully wrap the decorations.
CuringIrradiate under the UV lamp for 3–5 minutes to cure. Wait until it is completely cool before peeling off the tape.
UsageAttach it to a necklace cord, and this nature-inspired artwork is ready to shine!
