Home Decor: Colorful Blooming Coasters
Creating blooming art with color paste is easier than you might think! By combining color and creativity, you can effortlessly make unique flower-bloom coasters in just a few simple steps. With three pattern options to choose from, even beginners can quickly get the hang of it. Let’s make these beautiful coasters together!
Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
Crafting time: 1-2 hours
Materials Preparation
- Materials: 8-color pigment paste, epoxy resin, round flower coaster mold, small round mold, oval mold, glitters, translucent resin dye, gold mica powder
- Tools: Measuring cup, mixing stick, bubble remover machine, piping bag, bamboo skewers (or dental floss), preheater
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a vapor mask for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 68~77 °F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window, or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Mix regular epoxy resin evenly at a 1:1 volume ratio. Remove air bubbles using our AirZero Bubble Remover machine, then pour the resin into the mold until it reaches about half the mold’s height.

Step 2
Apply mixed-color glitter to the exact center of the curved-edge coaster mold.
Tip: If you don’t have mixed glitter, you can blend several single-color glitters to create your own custom mix.

Step 3
Use a bamboo skewer or dental floss to spread the glitter evenly, making sure the glitter naturally connects with the resin in the center of the mold.

Step 4
Tint clear epoxy resin with the 8-color pigment paste. Mix each color thoroughly and transfer it into a piping bag.
Tips:
- In winter, resin consistency is harder to judge. Begin piping when the resin in the bag feels slightly resistant when squeezed. In summer, you can use a heat gun and wait until the resin warms to about 104°F before starting.
- Pigment paste blends more slowly than liquid dye, so extend the mixing time to ensure even color and prevent clumping or uneven curing.

Step 5
Pipe the colored resin into the mold in a circular motion, working from the outer edge toward the center.

Step 6
Use a bamboo skewer to draw texture lines. The resin will naturally pull inward, creating a blooming effect. Allow it to cure for about 8 hours.
Tip: Wipe the skewer clean after each stroke to prevent color bleeding.

Step 7
Oval Coaster: After pouring a base layer of clear resin, pipe the colored resin from left to right in straight lines.

Step 8
Use a bamboo skewer to draw horizontal lines, then let it cure for 8 hours.

Step 9
Small Round Firework Coaster: After pouring a flat layer of clear resin, dot the colored resin into the mold from the outside toward the center. Allow it to cure for 8 hours.

Step 10
Mix purple ink, black ink, and gold mica powder into clear epoxy resin. Pour this mixture into three molds to form the base layer, and cure for 12 hours.

Step 11
Prepare a fresh batch of clear resin and remove bubbles with our bubble remover machine for about 5 minutes. Once fully defoamed, pour a top sealing layer over the coasters and cure for another 12 hours. Your coasters are now complete!
Tip: Make sure the coaster surface is perfectly level before pouring the resin.

Step 12
In winter, epoxy resin thickens due to low temperatures. Using a preheating machine and bubble remover in advance helps improve clarity and reduces bubbles for a more transparent finish.
These three blooming coaster designs are both decorative and practical for everyday use. Resin crafting offers endless creative possibilities! Just let your imagination flow and enjoy the process. Give it a try and create something uniquely yours!
