【Home Decor】Toast and Egg Resin Lamp
Don’t throw away expired bread! Instead of wasting it, you can easily create a cute and fun resin lamp using resin in just 7 simple steps. This project is perfect for beginners. Let’s get started!
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Crafting Time: 1-2 hours
Materials Preparation
- Materials: Expired Bread, Epoxy Resin, White Pigment Paste, Yellow Pigment Paste, Silicone Mat, Gem Resin Mold, Fairy Lights
- Tools: Mixing Cups, Popsicle Sticks, Hot Glue Gun, Hot Glue Sticks, Craft Knife
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a vapor mask for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 68~77 °F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window, or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Take one slice of expired toast. Use a craft knife to hollow out the center of the toast. Be careful not to cut all the way through. Leave a thickness of 0.3–0.4 inches to prevent the toast from being too thin and tearing during the process.
Tip: If the toast is too soft, place it in front of a fan to dry and harden before proceeding with the following steps.

Step 2
Mix the epoxy resin thoroughly in a 1:1 volume ratio. Prepare two cups of the mixed resin, then mix the yellow pigment paste and white pigment paste to color the resin mixture individually.

Step 3
Prepare another cup of clear resin mixture. Flip the toast over and pour it over the toast. Let it cure for 12 hours.

Step 4
Pour the mixed yellow resin into a round gem mold. Let it cure for 12 hours, then demold. The "egg yolk" is done.

Step 5
Pour the mixed white resin onto a silicone mat and let it cure at room temperature (68–77°F) for 4–5 hours. This creates the effect of "egg white".

Step 6
Carefully peel the semi-cured white "egg white" from the silicone mat, then place the egg white and egg yolk onto the toast in order. Once the egg white has fully cured, it will naturally adhere to the toast and stay in place.

Step 7
Place the fairy lights into the hollowed-out side of the toast, then secure it with hot glue.

Step 8
Your cute toast & egg lamp is completed!
