How to make a Blue Sky with Clouds Resin Diorama?
I’ve always loved the serene feeling of a blue sky with clouds drifting slowly—it brings such a sense of peace. Luckily, I found an effective way to recreate that magic! Using a brand-new technique, you can achieve the cloud effect without spending a fortune. All it takes is a bit of cotton to create beautiful resin cloud sculptures—perfect as home decor to bring a dreamy touch to any room!

Precautions

🔎 Step-by-step Instructions
Based on the above instructions, let's review the entire process.
Base Layer Creation
1.Assemble the mold:Add double-sided tape to the wooden slats, which helps secure the mold. Then, assemble the wood frame and place the mold into the wooden frame, adjust its position, and press the mold's edges onto the double-sided tape on the wooden frame. Use your fingers to firmly press and secure it in place.

2.Mix the resin:Prepare 4oz of epoxy resin by mixing a 1:1ratio by volume thoroughly. Add white pigment paste to color the mixture white, then pour it into the mold. Allow it to be cured for 8 hours.

Blue Sky Layer
3. Color mixing:Use second-generation water-based dye concentrates in Sapphire and Sky Blue to tint two portions of resin (4oz each). Add a small amount of fine glitter to the resin to mimic a starlight sparkle effect.

4. Resin pouring:Pour the two differently colored resins into opposite ends of the mold, allowing them to blend naturally to create a gradient sky effect. Let cure for 8 hours.

Cloud Making Process
5.Dyeing: Prepare a small cup of white tinted resin. Tear cotton into small pieces and soak them in resin to whiten the cotton.
Tip: Untreated cotton will turn transparent when soaked in resin.

6.Shaping: Remove the soaked cotton and place it on a silicone mat. Use tweezers to shape the cotton into desired cloud forms. Allow it to cure for 12 hours.

7. Sealing:Soak the cured clouds in clear resin, then place them back on the silicone mat to cure for another 12 hours. Once complete, the cloud section is finished!

Layered Diorama Process
8. Secure the clouds:Apply a dot of UV resin to the base of each cloud and airplane model, position them inside the mold, and cure under a UV lamp to prevent displacement.

9.Create contrail:Mix a small amount of white color paste into UV resin to make it opaque white. Use this to paint contrail effects behind the airplane wings, and cure immediately with a UV lamp.

10.Pour resin:Pour resin into the mold, ensuring each layer is ≤0.8 inches (approx. 2 cm) thick.

11.Add clouds:After the resin cures, decorate with additional small clouds to create a layered, floating illusion.

12.Final resin coat:Pour a top layer of resin to seal everything and allow 24 hours for full curing.

13.Demold:Remove the wooden frame and carefully demold the finished piece. Your artwork is now complete!
