- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a vapor mask for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 73–78°F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window, or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Place a layer of stones inside a square storage box. Cover them with a sheet of plastic, then press the plastic down with your hands to create natural, crinkled folds that mimic iceberg ridges.
Tip: For a thinner chessboard, use smaller or thinner stones. For a thicker, more angular iceberg texture, use larger or heavier stones.

Step 2
Prepare epoxy resin using a 1:1 volume ratio. Add green alcohol ink and stir thoroughly until the color is fully blended.

Step 3
Pour the resin into the box layer by layer, keeping each layer under 0.8 in thick. Allow 4–6 hours of curing between layers. Repeat until the plastic sheet and wrinkles are fully submerged.
Tip: Using large stones increases the amount of resin needed. If you want to save resin, choose smaller stones while still achieving a textured effect.

Step 4
Once the iceberg section has cured, apply a gold checkerboard sticker. (Templates are available on the cutting machine’s website.) Make sure each square is slightly larger than your chess pieces - 1.2 in × 1.2 in works well for standard resin pieces.

Step 5
After placing the sticker, pour a final layer of clear epoxy resin on top and let it cure for 12 hours.

Step 6
Use green epoxy, clear epoxy, and gold foil to make your chess pieces. Pour into molds and allow them to cure for 12 hours.
Tip: When demolding chess pieces, you can spray a small amount of alcohol as a lubricant, which can make the demolding process easier.

Step 7
Your custom iceberg chess set is now complete!
