Stationery: Flower Bookmarks with Pearlescent UV Resin
Create beautiful flower metal bookmarks with pearlescent UV resin and Clear UV resin! This is a fun and beginner-friendly project, which is simple to make and perfect for gifting. Let's get started!
Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Crafting Time: About 1 hour
Materials Preparation
- Materials: Flower Bookmark Frame, Clear UV Resin, Pearlescent UV Resin, Sticker
- Tools: Double-sided UV Light, Resin Tape, Bamboo Skewers (or dental floss), Resin Dyes
- Protective Equipment: Always wear nitrile waterproof gloves, a waterproof apron, and a vapor mask for safe handling.
Environment Setup
- Ideal Conditions: Maintain a temperature between 68~77 °F with humidity no higher than 50–60% RH.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally near a window, or use an air purifier for better airflow.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Place the resin tape flat on the board with the sticky side up. Secure the flower bookmark frames on the tape.

Step 2
Apply pearlescent UV resin to the flower parts to create different colors.
Tip: If you'd like a deeper color with your pearlescent UV resin, you can tint it using resin dye. Simply add one or two drops to deepen the color. Be careful not to overdo it, as too much resin dye can prevent the UV resin from curing properly.

Step 3
For smaller or narrower areas (such as leaf tips or delicate petals), use a bamboo skewer to apply the resin and help fill in the details.

Step 4
Apply pearlescent UV resin and clear UV resin into the bookmark frame from bottom to top in that order.
Tip: Make sure the total thickness of the resin does not exceed the height of the metal frame. A slightly concave surface works best. If it's too thick, the UV light may not penetrate deeply enough, making it difficult for the colored layers to cure properly.

Step 5
Use a bamboo skewer to blend the boundary between pearlescent and clear UV resins, creating a smooth, natural gradient.

Step 6
Cure them under a double-sided UV light for 3 minutes.

Step 7
Remove after they've completely cured. Attach the sticker with a floral message, then seal the surface with a layer of clear UV resin. Let them cure under the UV light for 2 minutes.

Step 8
Remove the bookmarks from the resin tape, tie on the tassel, and your bookmark is now complete!

Pro Tip:
It is essential to use resin tape, as the adhesive in regular tape may dissolve under the high temperatures of UV light exposure. This can result in a sticky surface on the UV-cured pieces and leave adhesive residue. Resin tape has less adhesive and will not dissolve under the high temperatures of UV lamps, ensuring no sticky residue is left when removed.
