Ultimate Guide to Resin Casting Powders

LET'S RESIN resin casting powder is a type of plaster casting powder. The product can be easily applied to any surface with just water, creating smooth, textured finishes. This product allows for rapid demolition in 30 minutes and full curing in 2 hours. In comparison to epoxy resin and UV resin, it is a superior and more efficient option.
Let's dive into the various applications and properties of our casting powder.
Advantages and Limitations of Resin Casting Powders
Traditional plaster powders have relatively coarse particles with large gaps between them. Liquid plaster is unable to fill the micropores, resulting in a "sandy texture" on the surface and blurry edges. In contrast, LET'S RESIN casting powder is as fine as flour. The liquid plaster can seep into smaller gaps, replicate details more accurately, and result in a smooth, delicate surface.

Advantages
Feature: The powder's particle size of 2000 mesh renders it comparable to fine flour. It can perfectly replicate the tiny textures and details on molds or prototypes, making it suitable for most non-load-bearing artistic creations and model making.
Curing Time: It has a fast curing speed. It can be demolded 25 - 30 minutes after solidification, and the finished product is fully cured within 2 hours.
Suitable Scenarios: This product has a wide range of applications, including use in model prototypes, mold-making, small sculptures, decorative pieces, and smooth surface restoration.
Limitations
Short Working Time: It is essential to regulate the mixing time, maintaining it within the range of 4 - 6 minutes. Once the initial set state of the plaster is achieved, it should be poured into the mold.
Strength & Toughness: Plaster, being a natural material, is prone to breakage. It should be handled with care.
Not Waterproof: Plaster is highly absorbent. Rain can damage the finished product, so waterproofing measures need to be taken for plaster products. However, due to its absorbency, it is also very suitable for making diffuser hangings and car air fresheners

Step-by-step instructions
1.Workspace & Material Preparation
Materials: Resin casting powder, clean water, molds, acrylic coloring pigments
Tools: Stirring rod, electronic scale, measuring cup, sandpaper (for polishing), protective equipment (mask, gloves).
2. Environment Setup
Temperature: 73–78°F
Humidity: Below 40%–60% RH (high humidity prevents proper curing)
Powder layer risk: It is recommended to wear a mask when stirring dry powder
Ventilation conditions: Be close to a window or use an air purifier, and stay away from open flames.
| Step | Production Process |
|---|---|
| Measuring | Measure the resin casting powder and cold water at a weight ratio of 3:1. |
| Mixing | Slowly add the plaster powder to the water in batches and stir. During the stirring process, quickly stir in one direction until it becomes a smooth paste without particles.Control the mixing operation time to about 4 - 6 minutes. When the initial set state of the plaster appears, pour it into the mold. |
| Pouring | After pouring the liquid into the mold, gently tap to remove air bubbles. |
| Curing | Do not move the mold within 15 - 20 minutes after pouring it in. Because the plaster liquid is in a relatively weak state during the solidification process, moving it may cause cracks in the finished product. The finished product can be demolded after solidifying for 25 - 30 minutes and will be fully cured within 2 hours. |
| Demolding | Demold carefully and avoid violent pulling! |

Tip: It is recommended to use room - temperature water for mixing. Do not use hot water, as it will cause the plaster to cure rapidly and result in a sharp increase in bubbles!
Project Types Suitable

| Finished Product Type | Specific Examples | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Ornaments | Abstract sculptures, fragrance ornaments, hanging decorations | It has porcelain-like texture. Its water absorbency endows it with fragrance diffusion and painting functions, meeting different needs |
| Flower Containers | Succulent pots, cement-style vases | Fast curing speed, allowing for mass production |
| Lighting Fixtures | Moon lamp bases, candlesticks | High fire resistance, providing safety assurance |
| Storage Items | Trays, coasters | With a hardness of 8.5MP, it is more firm and less likely to break |
Tip:
Plaster finished products are more suitable for use as decorations and storage items. Ordinary plaster trays are not food-grade and should not come into direct contact with food. This is because there are risks of chemical contamination and microbial hazards.
